). سريال خانه‌ي كوچك بعنوان طولاني‌ترينسريال ملودرام خانوادگي آمريكايي شناخته شده است. پس از اتمام سريال و كناره‌گيري برجسته‌ترين كارآكتر اين سريال (يعني مايكل لندون) سري جديد اين سريال تحت عنوان "خانه‌ي كوچك : شروعي دوباره" در سال 1982 آغاز گرديد كه بعلت عدم استقبال تماشاگران پس از ساخت 19 قسمت متوقف شد. پس از آن سه دنباله‌ي تلويزيوني در قالب سه فيلم با نام‌هاي "خانه‌ي كوچك : نگاهي به ديروز" (1983) ، "خانه‌ي كوچك : خدا همه بچه‌هاي كوچك را حفظ كند" (1983) و "خانه‌ي كوچك : آخرين وداع" (1984) ساخته شد كه با ساخت آخرين فيلم ، پرونده‌ي اين سريال براي هميشه بسته شد.            

 

به سر بازيگران اين سريال چه آمد : مايكل لندون پيش از سريال خانه‌ي كوچك با بازي در سريال "بونانزا" (به مدت چهارده سال) شهرت زيادي براي خود دست و پا كرده بود و پس از اتمام سريال خانه‌ي كوچك نيز با بازي در سريالي ديگر به نام "آزادراهي به بهشت" به مدت پنج سال ، توانست با 28 سال بازي مداوم در سريال‌هاي روزمره‌ي تلويزيوني مقام دوم را پس از لوسيل‌ بال بدست آورد. اين در حالي است كه لندون در تمامي اين سالها تهيه‌كنندگي ، نويسندگي و كارگرداني بيشتر قسمتهاي سريال‌هاي فوق را نيز بر عهده داشته است. مايكل لندون جوايز تلويزيوني بسياري كسب كرد ولي سرانجام در سال 1991 پزشكان متوجه سرطان لوزالمعده‌ي وي شدند. بيماري گسترش يافته و به كبد و غدد لنفاوي وي نيز سرايت نموده بود. لندون در برنامه‌اي تلويزيوني ظاهر شد و از هوادارانش خواست تا برايش دعا كنند ضمن اينكه خود نيز قول داد با بيماري مبارزه كند. اما پس از چند عمل جراحي تسليم سرنوشت شد و چندماه پس از تشخيص بيماري در 54 سالگي درگذشت.

 

كارن گراسل (بازيگر نقش مادر خانواده) پس از اتمام سريال به بازيگري در تأتر ادامه داد. مليسا گيلبرت (بازيگر نقش لورا ، دختر خانواده) اكنون 46 ساله است. وي به بازيگري ، تهيه‌كنندگي و نويسندگي در تلويزيون ادامه داده و كتاب خاطراتش از سريال خانه‌ي كوچك را در سال 2009 با عنوان "داستان دشت : دفترچه خاطرات" منتشر نموده است
